| Licence |
Shall mean a licence granted by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry under the powers conferred on him by the Petroleum Act 1998 and previous enactments relating to petroleum licensing to persons to search or bore for and obtain petroleum in Great Britain, any seaward area, the territorial waters of the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom continental shelf from the low water mark. |

| Licence Data |
Shall mean data relating to operations to search for, bore for and get hydrocarbons conducted under or pursuant to Licences which the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry has requested or would be entitled to request from licensees pursuant to applicable Model Clauses, together with any such information which the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry may in the future request from licensees pursuant to the applicable Model Clauses. |
| Licence Group |
The collection of Licensees who are party to a particular Exploration Licence or a Production Licence with the Secretary of State. |
| Licence Operator |
The Licensee from a Licence Group who, through a Joint Operating Agreement has been appointed by the Licence Group to conduct the operations on its behalf. |
| Licence transfer |
A transfer of licence can be effected by routine amendment of licence interests following UK oil industry practise, or by purchase / sale of one company's assets by another. At the time of a licence transfer the entitlements to data held by that licence change. |
| Licensee |
A company who is party to an Exploration Licence or a Production Licence with the Secretary of State. |
| Log |
A set of curves which originate from the same tool. |

Basic information about the data recorded on a well log. |

A set of curves which originate from the same tool. |
| Logging Services Provider |
The company contracted to perform the wellbore wireline logging services which result in the capture of the Original Format log data. |
